GOES surface insolation to estimate wetlands evapotranspiration

چکیده
Incoming solar radiation derived from GOES-8 satellite observations, in combination with local meteorological measurements, were used to model evapotranspiration from a wetland. The wetland experiment was conducted in the Paynes Prairie Preserve, North Central Florida during a growing season characterized by significant convective activity. The satellite solar radiation measurements generally agreed with pyranometer data gathered at the site. The satellite net radiation estimates were in good agreement with the 30-min averages of measured net radiometer data. Satellite derived net radiation estimates were used in the Penman–Monteith and Priestley–Taylor models to calculate evapotranspiration. The calculated instantaneous evaporative fluxes were in good agreement with 30-min average ground-based eddy correlation system measurements. The daily averages of modeled evapotranspiration were in very good agreement ðr2 1⁄4 0:90Þ with reference eddy flux measurements. q 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Evapotranspiration in the Everglades; Comparison of Bowen Ratio Measurements and Model Estimations
The Everglades in south Florida is a marsh system where most of the time wet vegetated marshes and open water features prevail. Rainfall and evapotranspiration (ET) are the main parameters in the hydrology of the Everglades. The delicate balance between rainfall and evapotranspiration maintains the hydrology system in either a wet condition or dry condition. Based on a literature review of both...
متن کاملRegional estimation of daily to annual regional evapotranspiration with MODIS data in the Yellow River Delta wetland
Evapotranspiration (ET) from the wetland of the Yellow River Delta (YRD) is one of the important components in the water cycle, which represents the water consumption by the plants and evaporation from the water and the non-vegetated surfaces. Reliable estimates of the total evapotranspiration from the wetland is useful information both for understanding the hydrological process and for water m...

The atmospheric radiative forcing is a central theme of climate change impact studies. The presence of Atmospheric Brown Clouds due to increased aerosol concentrations and green house gases such as water vapour, CO2 alter solar radiation and atmospheric thermal regimes. Both have strong feedbacks on open water evaporation. The measured daily global (direct + diffuse) insolation for a period of ...

Wetlands are essential habitats in the environment since they fulfill a variety of ecological functions and support rich biodiversity. One major characteristic of wetlands is their ability to act as chemical sinks. There have been biogeochemical models developed for wetlands in Europe and North America but these systems differ from those found in South Africa, where most wetlands are riverfed a...
